Scope is a product of Slipstream Engineering. This describes what we collect when you visit this site and when you use Scope inside Microsoft Teams or Slack, why we collect it, and who else sees it.
1. What we collect
When you visit this website
- Standard analytics: pages viewed, referring source, approximate location from your IP, browser and device type. We use Google Analytics and the Google Ads tag for this, which set cookies.
- The Meta Pixel, which tells Meta (Facebook and Instagram) that you visited, which page, and whether you clicked to add Scope to Slack or Teams, download the Teams package, or book a session. Meta uses this to measure our ads and to show our ads to people who have visited. It sets cookies and may be linked to a Facebook or Instagram account you are signed in to. It never receives the contents of anything you send Scope.
- If you book a session, the name, email and answers you give in the Calendly form embedded on our pages.
When you use Scope
- The messages you send it, and the files you attach. Scope has to read these to do the work you asked for.
- Account identifiers from Microsoft Teams or Slack: your user and workspace or tenant ID, display name, and the channel or chat the conversation happens in.
- Conversation history, so follow-up questions do not need restating.
- Data from tools you connect, when you authorise Scope to reach one, limited to what the task needs.
Credentials you choose to give us
Scope can send you a one-time link asking for a site, username and password so it can act somewhere on your behalf. We only ever receive these because you typed them into that link.
Credentials submitted this way are relayed to our backend and stored there so the task can run. We are an early-stage product and this mechanism is not a substitute for a password manager or a proper integration. Do not use it for anything you would not be willing to rotate, and prefer an official connection where one exists.
2. Why we collect it
- To do the work you have asked Scope to do.
- To keep the service running, debug failures, and prevent abuse.
- To understand which pages and campaigns bring people here, so we can spend our marketing budget sensibly.
- To contact you if you asked us to.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not use the contents of your messages or files to train machine-learning models. Some US state laws treat the Meta Pixel as “sharing” data for advertising; section 5 explains how to opt out of it.
3. Who else sees it
Scope is built on other people’s infrastructure. The providers below process data on our behalf, each under their own terms:
- Anthropic: the model that reads your messages and produces the work.
- Microsoft and Slack: the platforms Scope runs inside.
- Vercel: hosting for this site and its API routes.
- Google: Analytics and Ads measurement on this website.
- Meta: ad measurement and retargeting on this website, through the Meta Pixel.
- Calendly: session booking.
- Linq: if you talk to Scope over text message.
We will also disclose data where the law requires it, and we would tell you unless we were forbidden from doing so.
4. How long we keep it
Conversations and files are kept while your account is active, so that Scope stays useful across a conversation. Ask us to delete them and we will, within 30 days. Analytics data follows Google’s and Meta’s default retention. Credentials submitted through a vault link are deleted on request and should be rotated by you once the task is done.
5. Your choices
- Ask for a copy of what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it.
- Remove Scope from your workspace at any time, which stops all new collection.
- Block cookies in your browser. The site works without them.
- Opt out of the Meta Pixel by turning on Global Privacy Control in your browser or a privacy extension. When it is on, this site does not load the Pixel at all. You can also manage how Meta uses this data in your Facebook or Instagram ad preferences.
Depending on where you live you may have further rights under the GDPR or CCPA, including objecting to processing. Write to jon@slipstreamengineering.com and we will action it.
6. Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Access to production systems is limited to the people who need it. We are a small and early team: we would rather tell you that plainly than imply certifications we do not hold. If you need a security review before adopting Scope, ask and we will answer honestly about where we are.
7. Children
Scope is a workplace tool and is not intended for anyone under 16.
8. Changes
If we change this materially we will update the date at the top and, where we have your address, tell you.
